Sport has a unique way of bringing people together, but evenings like the annual Six Nations Dinner in aid of the Matt Hampson Foundation show just how powerful that connection can be.
We were once again proud to be one of the sponsors of the event, which welcomed over 1,200 guests from across the worlds of rugby and business. The evening is always one of the highlights of our year – not just because of the atmosphere, but because of what it represents. Every conversation, every auction bid and every round of applause helps support people and families whose lives have been affected by life-changing sporting injuries.
The foundation’s work is deeply personal. It provides long-term rehabilitation, mentoring and wellbeing support, helping people rebuild independence, confidence and quality of life after devastating injuries sustained through sport.
Hosted at Battersea Evolution, the evening had a fantastic energy from the moment guests arrived, combining sport, entertainment and fundraising in a way that makes this event so special year after year.
The evening was hosted by former England international and broadcaster David Flatman, whose humour and natural stage presence helped keep the atmosphere relaxed, engaging and full of good-natured rugby spirit.
Around 70 players attended, helping create a real celebration of the sport’s community and camaraderie, with plenty of friendly rivalry and rugby stories shared across the tables.
Among the guests was Mike Tindall, whose rugby career and well-known royal family connection always adds a little extra interest to the evening, alongside the usual light-hearted banter that makes events like this so enjoyable.
Heads & Tails – The Night’s Highlight
The Heads & Tails game is always one of the most anticipated moments of the evening, and we were proud to sponsor it once again.
With everyone taking part, guests simply chose their side – hands on heads for heads, hands behind backs for tails – creating a shared moment of anticipation as players were gradually eliminated.
This year delivered a memorable moment when Emily Scarratt, one of England rugby’s most respected modern players, joined David on stage to assist with the coin toss. She produced an incredible run of seven consecutive tails, a moment that had the whole room watching closely as she even had to show the coin to the camera to prove it had two sides.
The prize was a nine-night luxury Portugal experience for two, featuring stays at: Wine and Books Lisbon, Praia Do Canal Nature Retreat and Wine and Books Algarve. All stays were on a bed and breakfast basis, with a €150 resort credit included for the Algarve property.
A&G included return flights and private transfers, allowing the winners to simply focus on enjoying their experience.
A separate spot prize was awarded to one lucky subscriber from our mailing list and the foundation supporters’ database, who will enjoy a stay at Wine and Books Porto.
Live Art & Auction Highlights
Guests enjoyed a live painting performance by Ben Mosley, renowned for his bold pop-art style and distinctive use of real gold. Famous for his striking city skyline paintings, Ben created a dynamic depiction of London live during the event, showcasing his signature technique in real time.
Ben has created portraits of high-profile cultural figures, including a celebrated portrait of Queen Elizabeth II.
He was the official travelling artist for the British & Irish Lions Tour to Australia 2025, capturing the emotion and energy of the tour through live event artwork.
The evening’s auction was led by sports presenter and charity auctioneer Johnny Gould, whose energy helped drive strong bidding across the room. The finished artwork was auctioned, helping to raise around £35,000, contributing to the success of the evening’s fundraising efforts.
Until Next Year...
It was a privilege to once again support the Matt Hampson Foundation at such a special event. Nights like this are about more than fundraising — they are about bringing people together, sharing unforgettable moments and helping create opportunities for others to rebuild their lives after life-changing injuries.
We look forward to continuing our support, and to cheering on Matt Hampson and his team as they take on the TCS London Marathon 2026, pushing forward with strength, determination and incredible spirit as they complete the course to raise awareness and support for the foundation’s work.
